Belinda Hart is a California Textile Artist, whose work is inspired by the organic colors and textures that occur in nature. Working from her studio, Windows on Woodstock in the Santa Ynez Valley, she translates her inspirational surroundings into hand-dyed, hand-painted cottons and silks. Free-motion stitching characteristically follows the form of the individual image in each piece to provide a more three-dimensional surface.
From a very young age Belinda's artistic talent was manifested in drawing and painting. Early endeavors lead her to wearable art and sewing. She became fascinated by the more tactile form of textile art and design, and began collecting needlework, weaving and mixed media artworks. The melding of these interests led to her own mixed media style utilizing fabric as its foundation.
Today, in her studio overlooking the valley, she is a creator of original artwork from fabrics, paints and threads. Her work is shown in solo exhibitions, juried exhibitions, galleries, and held in private collections.
